Pop Uber Alles by Orticanoodles & Pigmenti
Pigmenti limited edition of 55 copies.

"“Pop Uber Alles” looks deeper into the theme of skulls, used throughout the history of art as reminders of man’s mortality. Today, they have become ephemeral symbols deprived of their sanctity and appropriated by fashion, design and contemporary art. Gli Orticanoodles reconsider the image of the skull in a series of portraits of media personalities that are shown scalped, revealing empty craniums. We are invited to reflect on what remains of these men and women once they are stripped of their public image and status, confronting the question of identity as an image created to communicate a message.
This work is framed within the visual parameters of pop culture and advertising in order to distort the message and undertake social critique. The skulls ask us: what really matters – to be seen, or to act? To live or die?"

Orticanoodles is the pseudonym for two Italian artists, a very active and tight-knit duo, composed of Wally and Alita. Currently the duo is in production, with the creation of a series of portraits.  Often this process, like the chosen subject, is born as a form of social criticism and at other times the choice of subject was simply driven by inspiration and respect towards the same.
